Medicare Plan Raises Seniors' Costs & Threatens Medicare's Solvency
There are many outrageous and incorrect claims about the Medicare savings in the Affordable Care Act (or Obamacare).your care, instead of into the pockets of insurance companies.
CLAIM: Obamacare cuts $700 billion from Medicare.
FACT: Obamacare reduces fraud and wasteful spending in Medicare while expanding benefits and improving the program's long-term health. The savings are less than 10% of Medicare spending.
CLAIM: Obamacare "guts" Medicare.
FACT: While spending increases are restrained, Medicare spending will continue to rise to care for the Baby Boomer generation. In fact, the overall cost of Medicare is expected to grow from about $500 billion in 2012 to nearly $900 billion by 2022, even after taking into account the scheduled reductions.
CLAIM: Obamacare "raids" the Medicare trust fund.
FACT: Obamacare extends the life of the Medicare trust fund. Medicare's hospital insurance trust fund takes i revenue from taxes on wages and pays out benefits for hosp-ital carre. Since 2008, the Medicare trust fund has been spending more than it takes in annually and has been digging into its reserve. Prior to passage of Obamacare, Medicare's trust fund was scheduled to be out of reserve dollars by 2016. With smart cost reductions, Obamacare extends the life of the trust fund for eight more years, to 2024- long enough for long-term quality and cost-improvement strategies to take root. Repeal of Obamacare would make Medicare insolvent in just four years, paving the way for Romney's radical plan to end Medicare as we know it.
CLAIM: Obamacare's spending reductions "will lead to fewer services for seniors."
FACT: Obamacare expands Medicare benefits with the addition of a no-cost annual check-up and lowers the cost of preventive services and prescription drugs. In 2011, 32.5 million seniors and people with disabilities used at least one preventive service at no cost. More than 5.2 million Medicare beneficiaries have saved nearly $4 billion on prescription drugs - an average of more than $600 per person. Overall, Obamacare lowers costs for beneficiaries in traditional Medicare by more than $200 bill ion through 2021, whereas the Romney-Ryan plan would end the Medicare benefit guarantee, raise out-of-pocket costs for seniors by nearly $6,400, and reduce the overall solvency of Medicare.

What does Medicare Part B cover?
Medicare covers services (like lab tests, surgeries, and doctor visits) and supplies (like wheelchairs and walkers) considered medically necessary to treat a disease or condition.
If you're in a Medicare Advantage Plan or other Medicare plan, you may have different rules, but your plan must give you at least the same coverage as Original Medicare. Some services may only be covered in certain settings or for patients with certain conditions.
Part B covers 2 types of services
You pay nothing for most preventive services if you get the services from a health care provider who accepts assignment.
